Mitch and Cody witness a disaster involving a parasailer and a boat. When they are heading for the rescue, they are once again beaten by Bayguard, a new firm that specializes in privatizing lifeguards. When the rescue has been completed, Mitch is introduced to Alex Ryker. She is the CEO of Bayguard. She tells Mitch that she plans on going up against him for the county contract. Baywatch's contract with the county is about to expire. The next day, when Mitch goes to the Chief's office, he is surprised to find Alex there. It turns out that she has shown the Chief a videotape of some of Bayguard's amazing rescues. She has also shown the Chief a tape showcasing the Baywatch team slacking off. Mitch objects immediately, but the Chief thinks that Alex's proposal warrants consideration. After his meeting with the Chief, Mitch tells his lifeguards to start acting like professionals, otherwise they will not have any jobs left by the end of the week. When Mitch and Hobie are walking down the beach after a tough day, they notice a strange smell in a tunnel. When they have entered the tunnel, Mitch recognizes the smell. Some workers have accidentally damaged a gas line. One of the workers drops his cigarette into the tunnel and Mitch and Hobie have to run out before it explode. Later in the marina, Hobie meets his friends Brad, Josie and Randy. Because they are in no condition to drive, Hobie drives Brad's dad's boat. While they are driving, Josie pulls the throttle to full speed. Hobie loses control and it's just a matter of time before the boat turns over. Hobie rescues everybody with April and Jessie's assistance. Josie ends up in a coma and Brad tells Josie's father that Hobie caused the accident. Hobie ends up in prison due to reckless driving. A little boy named Tanner hangs around Mitch's tower all day. He even imitates Mitch's moves. When Mitch gets a call about a missing boy, he knows that Tanner is the one. His father is furious when he arrives and he slaps Tanner before he drags him of the beach. Mitch and Alex are very shocked about this but there's nothing they can do. The next day, Tanner is on the beach again claiming that his father gave him permission to do it. Mitch suggests that Junior Lifeguards would be a good idea for Tanner. Later, Mitch gives Tanner a ride home. It turns out that Tanner lives in a dirty dilapidated mobile home in Venice. It gets even worse when Blake refuses to sign any stupid piece of paper about Junior Lifeguards. However, the next morning Tanner arrives to Junior Lifeguards with the piece of paper signed and everything. But he refuses to take his shirt off. But afterwards, Tanner starts shivering and Mitch tells him to change his t-shirt. Mitch is then shocked to discover bruises on Tann

In the teaser, Mitch is approaching a tower while talking to Craig over the radio. It turns out that tower 14 has been washed very close to the shoreline. As a result of a storm, the tower's ramp has been moved from the tower. When Mitch is about to leave the tower, a huge wave knocks him off his feet and he becomes all wet. Later during a role call, Mitch is surprised to find out that Alex has hired a new maintenance person. Her name is Jessie Owens. Everyone likes her at first, especially Cody and J.D. While they are on patrol, they are surprised to see Jessie jumping off a pier. It turns out that she wants to become a stuntwoman. Later, it turns out that Jessie is the phantom lifeguard when she rescues a little girl named Beth and then disappears mysteriously. But Jessie turns out to be a bad maintenance person and she is fired when the lifeguard clothes has shrunk to infant size, and tons of soap bubbles start bubbling out of the washing machine and onto the floor and t

Mitch receives a phone call at home about the plane crash. Later, Craig finds out that it's Cody and April's flight. When the lifeguards arrive to the scene, Mitch is relieved when he finds Cody alive in the water. Meanwhile in the first-class compartment, Francine starts having contractions. If that's not enough for April to handle, Hans freaks out and is convinced that he is going to die. April is forced to calm him down. Then disaster strikes as the first-class compartment sinks to the bottom of the ocean. Meanwhile at the surface, the lifeguards are rescuing the passengers and bring them to safety. When the Coast Guard locates the first-class compartment, Craig dives down to survey the scene and determines how they can be helped out of the wreckage.
