Yuri!!! on Ice

Sun TV 2016

Yuri Katsuki carried the hope of all Japan on his shoulders in the Figure Skating Grand Prix, but suffered a crushing defeat in the finals. He returned to his hometown in Kyushu and hid away in his family's home, half wanting to continue skating and half wanting to retire. That was when the five-time consecutive world champion, Viktor Nikiforov, suddenly showed up with his teammate, Yuri Plisetsky, a young skater starting to surpass his seniors. And so the two Yuris and the Russian champion Viktor set out to compete in a Grand Prix like none the world has ever seen!

This is the gayest thing I've ever watched and I am beyond happy for it's existence. God has touched us with his etherial light and graced us with his love.

Yuri on Ice is the purest anime i've ever watched. it not only deals with failure and mental illness& recovery; it also brought us the most wholesome gay sports romance of ((DARE I SAY)) the decade. Where in the beginning it seems silly and a little queerbaiting it makes up for with a spectacular plot twist that explains. EVERYTHING. thank you Kubo-sensei for bringing something good to 2016!!!!

Favorite anime of all time. It’s so cute, I can’t get over it. You just can’t help falling in love with the characters.

It beautifully depicts a romantic relationship, friendship, high level competition and how imperfect everyone is. Absolutely amazing!

Pure, funny, and absolutely worth the watch. This is one of those shows you watch when you just want to be happy. Also it's the gayest thing I've seen in a long time that does weird backflips (quadflips?) to avoid just admitting it's gay. (That bugged me for a while but by the end of it, even though they're still weirdly evasive about it, I was mostly mollified.) Nitpicky things: Animation on the skates are beautiful, non-skating animation is at its best in the first few episodes, but falls off pretty sharply afterwards. (Understandable given the obvious amount of work in the skating routines.) I did start skipping through some skates by the last few episodes as it started feeling same-y. Don't know if that's due to me bingeing it, that they used the same choreographer and skater(s?) for the roto, or just the fact that you saw the same routine multiple times. Could improve there but the plot beats keep you entertained and pull you through.

This show is a blessing. It deals with anxiety, depression, failing and having to pick yourself back up again, and the need and want to be the best that you can be. You really feel for all of these characters and their failures and their triumphs. First anime I watched and I am forever in love. Can't wait for season 2!!

9.5/10 (if only trakt supported that) By rights, I should give this season an 8 (my per-episode ratings average out to 8.41). But I enjoyed it a lot more than that. I don't feel like a 10 is completely justified, since I did have a few bones to pick with the narrative, but a 9 is a bit shy of what the show deserves. Given the "SEE YOU NEXT LEVEL" tag at the end of the season, I can only speculate that a second season is planned (or at least, pitched). I would gladly watch more of this.

    About Me

I am Sophie and this is my website.

A little about me 👋 I am a marketing student in Paris. I love spending afternoons with friends in a cafe or a park.

But more than anything else, I love watching (.. binging…) series on my computer on rainy Sundays or any sunny day for that matter 🙈

I must have watched hundreds of shows by now, from romance to science-fiction series. Often I like to go back to a show I enjoyed. But I don’t feel like watching it all over again…

I created this website so myself and others could find the best episodes of our favourite shows. As of today, I have about 1,000 shows on the website with votes and rating coming from fans.

Hopefully, you can join me from your sofa and enjoy some nice TV!
