The first flashback is of Monica when she was a freshman in college, where she accidentally cut off all her hair while trying to make a turkey. This leads to a series of other embarrassing Thanksgivings, including Ross getting caught in the shower with the copy girl and Chandler getting his toe stuck in the faucet.
The episode also includes a brief look into Joey's past, as he explains why Thanksgiving is his least favorite holiday. Joey's father was in the military, which meant that his family moved around a lot and never had the chance to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
