No no no no NO!!!

I would be pissed that they remade it as I’m sure people are. But it’s fine as it’s not a proper remake it’s like a reinterpretation. I don’t like it when they remake shows that are already good because there’s no point, but this one is done in a different way so could be interesting.

Browsing through some of the reviews I find online, all I can see is people complaining about how they turned this show into PC nonsense, and changed the characters up to something unrecognizable compared to their original versions. Really? Did we watch the same sitcom growing up? Are we forgetting about the episode in the original where Carlton and Will were arrested just for being a certain skin color? Are we forgetting about Carlton almost overdosing on pep pills? Are we forgetting about Carlton packing heat after he and Will got mugged? Are we forgetting about Phil being confronted in his old neighborhood because he "abandoned them" when he became wealthy? Yes, the original was a lighthearted sitcom, so obviously their main focus wasn't on the drama, but dang it if it wasn't there at all. People are saying the tension between Will and Carlton in this reboot feels forced? Re-watch the first few seasons of the original show. I'd hardly call them besties in that either. This new version being a dramatic retelling, they are taking sitcom characters and translating them into actual well rounded human beings. Carlton, who was an uptight, stress-prone, daddy's boy who was always jealous of Will's natural charm and intelligence,
is now relieving his tension with drugs, and is resorting to down-and-dirty tactics
that sitcom Carlton would just as easily do, but the nature of the show he was on, simply wouldn't let him. Hilary, who was a superficial airhead in the original to the point of it being a parody of herself,
is mooching off of her parents' money in this one and trying to make it as an influencer while waiting for a career to fall into her lap
. That just screams "updated Hilary" to me. I could go on, but the fact of the matter is that this show took a very lighthearted setup, gave it some much needed weight for this type of storytelling, and casted some truly brilliant actors in this. Banks is an amazing Will, and Holmes is a great uncle Phil. As a sidenote, I'm usually the first to point out "forced PC-ness", but you simply can not do a show about African American families, especially a wealthy one like the Banks family, and not have it come up at some point. The original knew it, this one knows it, and they both did it well within the confines of the style of show they're presenting. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this season.

This is the best show people never gave a chance This is not "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". This is not a comedy. This is not 1993. This is a realistic take that fills in the gaps. As a Philadelphian born and raised, this show has made me proud. As the product of an urban environment, and as a black man, this show is telling a coming-of-age story that I've seen and lived. The family dynamic. Will not belonging. The struggles of a rich black man, even from his own community, trying to be accepted... this is reality and the acting, cinematography and wardrobe are FRESH. Thank you, Will Smith, for seeing Morgan Cooper's vision. I will enjoy this season, even if it's the only one.

I am an elder millennial. Will Smith and that show are a huge part of my childhood Cable Guy style. I however love this show. It isn't the same but uses that family and theme to tell a modern re-imaging of the modern racial tensions. It isn't the annoying white people bad and everyone else is a victim-type approach either. We have a very affluent black family who takes in a black youth who has all the stereotypes. It is empowering to other colors but blunt and true. It isn't trying to punish us for our forefather's mistakes and if you still are n ignorant POS then yeah this wouldn't be for you since you are too much of a victim to acknowledge the past and present atrocities committed by any race. Edit: 4/3/22 It got weaker and with the recent Will Smith controversy I won't continue watching this show.

The drama of racial tension is the only decent thing about it. Cant see it having a season 2 but who knows

When I first saw that this was gonna be more of a drama and not a sitcom, I was disappointed and worried. Not sure if it was because I thought it would be too serious or that it was being remade period. But I'm actually feeling this. All the same elements are there and they throw in some memorable moments from the original. It's just polished up and maybe more relevant for this generation.

will and jazz didnt have any moments, its somehow so much more shallow than the original and that one was a sitcom id say it would be a good show if it existed in a vacuum but now its just another bad reboot

Disspointing, Ruined the name of such a great show, ALL AMERICAN is similar but a 100 times better. I'd be surprised if they have 3 seasons before it's cancelled.

I liked this cause it shows how it should of been in a more Modern real life world..I didn't like that they introduced Liza early into the show, But I do hope to see a season 2 and maybe introduce Jackie in the next season that would be dope to see her character in it. Great Show worth watching.

About Me

I am Sophie and this is my website.

A little about me 👋 I am a marketing student in Paris. I love spending afternoons with friends in a cafe or a park.

But more than anything else, I love watching (.. binging…) series on my computer on rainy Sundays or any sunny day for that matter 🙈

I must have watched hundreds of shows by now, from romance to science-fiction series. Often I like to go back to a show I enjoyed. But I don’t feel like watching it all over again…

I created this website so myself and others could find the best episodes of our favourite shows. As of today, I have about 1,000 shows on the website with votes and rating coming from fans.

Hopefully, you can join me from your sofa and enjoy some nice TV!
