Goku makes an enduring journey to challenge Master Chin. Chin is busy fending off Rising Dragon and his two men. Before Rising Dragon can begin a fight, his brother Sky Dragon stops him. Chin's agrees to workout with Goku, his son Shoken getting worried. Goku finds Chin has been in weak health lately and learns from him about the King's Tournament. Goku manages to get medicine for Chin, managing to avoid conflict with the Dragon brothers. Sky Dragon spends his time terrifying his students. Goku volunteers to take Chin's place in the King's Tournament. Jealous Shoken spikes Goku's breakfast. At the tournament Goku battles Sky Dragon as the laxative kicks in Goku, but he resists the effect and beats Sky Dragon. The Dragon brothers and students join Chin's teachings and Goku resumes his journey.

Master Roshi takes Tien and Chiaotzu on a cross-country race for the Dragon Balls. As they try to stay ahead of the competion, King Piccolo and his dastardly horde. Meanwhile Goku attempts to persuade mountain-boy Yajirobe to hand over his Dragon Ball to help save Krillin!

Having barely escaped the devastating tri-beam attack, Goku and Tien are now high above the stadium. Goku's surprise use of the Kamehameha Wave leaves both fighters helplessly falling and, with the ring destroyed, the first one to hit the ground loses. Due to a collision with a truck, Goku hits the ground first and Tien is declared the winner. As former rivals become friends and celebrate a well fought tournament, a mysterious enemy's attack steals a friend's life.

Goku cannot defeat Mr. Popo, and thus, cannot see Kami! Goku decides to be trained by Popo. Kami eventually does reveal himself, and Goku is shocked to see he looks just like Piccolo(the logic!)! Kami tells Goku of how he split his good self from his bad in order to take the throne of Kami-sama, but because of it, Piccolo was created. Kami tells Goku that he can't bring the dead back to life... but Shenron can. He will be able to bring Shenron back to life to restore everyone.

Goku is travelling when he sees a girl about to be eaten by a tiger-monster.He saves her and she asks him to help her village which is being terrorized by 2 people called Terror and Plague. When they reach the village they see that there is a call going on in which when a person's name is called, and he doesn't reply 'here' he'll be sent inside the gourd(a thing Terror and Plague use to trap people).Goku shows up and challenges them and beats them but they use the gourd and trap him.Goku escapes the gourd with his power pole and takes the gourd, trapping Terror and Plague.They feel sorry and Goku releases them and they now work for the villagers.Goku then travels on towards the wilderness.

The stranger tells Goku that he stole his Breakfast. Goku says that can he prove it was his fish. The stranger tells Goku that he was cooking that fish. Goku sees that the stranger has a dragonball hanging on his neck as a bracelet. Goku then thinks that he works with Tambourine and they start fightingn him. After they are done fighting Goku asks the stranger`s name. The stranger says his name is Yajirobe and Goku tells his own name. Goku asks where Yajirobe got the dragonball. Yajirobe says that he found it 3 years ago in the jungle. Goku realizes that the whole fight was a misunderstanding. Then Cymbal comes asking for the dragonball. Goku relaizes that Cymbal works with Tambourine. Yajirobe doesn`t give up his dragonball and fights him. Right when Cymbal was going to use his killer attack Yajirobe grabs his sword and cuts Cymbal in half. King Piccolo finds out about Cymbal`s death telephatically linked and starts to have a killer headacke.
