Kevin Spacey is so great in this show, and his wife Claire (Robin Wright) too. They play their roles so realistic, I believe them every word! Barack Obama wrote a book as he's got into "higher" politics. I see some parallels from the book and this tv show. Everything is very realistic. The show reminds me a little bit of "Damages" with Glenn Close, where intrigue play a big role too, but in House of Cards it is much more sophisticated. You can't really miss one episode, because you gonna miss so much. And I also do not want to miss an episode , because you never get bored here. That is how a tv show concept should be! The big thing about the show is also the first season's ending. I don't want to put a spoiler here, but I couldn't imagine that all those different story lines got put together to a big picture in the ending. That was amazing. Really great written. I give the first season 9 out of 10 points because it is so amazing well written, the acting is simply awesome and the only annoying thing which comes to my mind is the long intro. So if you want to see a realistic politics & life tv show: Give it a try.
It has been a while since I was totally and utterly WOWed by a show. This show completly and utterly BLEW ME AWAY for many reasons.. Let's start with the awesome cast.. Kevin Spacey brilliantly stars as Francis J. "Frank" Underwood, An utterly ruthless and conniving politician, he pursues only his own political agenda and manipulates everyone around him to grab influence and prestige, at the potential cost of utterly destroying everyone else to push himself forward. Robin Wright as Claire Underwood, Francis' wife. She runs the Clean Water Initiative, an NGO, She often gets involved with Frank's political scheming, as an aid and an abettor. She proves to be just as cold, manipulative and power-hungry as her husband, often setting her own lofty goals to work alongside helping with his and letting nothing stop her. It is a brilliant and epic show with a meticulously made plot that will leave you with nothing less than your jaw dropping to the floor one episode at a time.. WATCH IT.. Cause if you don't, you really are MISSING OUT!
Too bad next season will be the last :(.
Each season of this show begins so damn strong. They set up the conflicts, characters, and scenarios so well and then they slowly degrade everything into an absurd fantasy world where Kevin Spacey can apparently predict every single action anyone makes, and he is completely immune to any sort of retribution for completely ridiculous actions that he does. It's basically like he becomes smarter than anyone who has ever lived on this planet and everyone else becomes mentally retarded. Even when characters who can challenge him are introduced, they are eventually revealed to be just as stupid as everyone else in the show. Some people like the breaking of the third wall that happens in every episode, I personally hate it. I watch television to put myself into another world, breaking the immersion is not a good thing.
The first two seasons are some of the best TV I've ever seen. There was a little drop-off in seasons 3-5 but it was still good. Just don't watch season 6. My rating is for the first 5 seasons as I like to think the show ended then. If only I could remove the memory of watching season 6 from my mind :(
It is a very great show, until the fifth season only, **trust me and don't watch the sixth season**!! I wonder how Netflix managed to destroy the show that made Netflix great in the first place!! Rating 10/10 for the first five seasons only. The Sixth season is 1/10
This show has gone to shits after they fired Kevin Spacey. I'm sorry but he's a great actor that really brought this show together. He might have done some stuff 30 years a go...who knows...name one person on top of their game that hasn't done something bad. Anyway watch this show up to current season. This season sucks major ass....
This is by far one of the best series I have ever watched. You can say what you want, but whatever Kevin Spacey has done, I miss him in the last season. The sixth and final season was garbage,
it was full of references to the actions of Spacey, and the only characters that played well were Hammerschmidt and Doug Stamper.
But in a nutshell, I would recommend you to watch the show, just don't expect a lot in the last season.
Season 6 was terrible, falling far short of prior seasons. While Robin Wright was excellent in Seasons 1-5, she works best as a supporting character in this show. As primary, not so much....
I have to admit: I don't get the Nay-Sayers. In all these years there are maybe 1-2 Episodes which i did not like or that felt mediocre. I did not like some minor decisions. But the quality, the writing, the overall design, the actors and everything is just great topnotch! I actually i watched House of Cards this way: I got a new season and i watched the german-dubbed version. Season 5 is now there, but i had to remind me, what happend so far. So i wanted to watch a summary, but it felt that i would miss much. So i started one month over from Season One. This time i watched the original english dubbed Version. And i can not recall any major flaw this show got. Thank you, Francis :) 9/10 Update after Kevin Spacey was fired: So this show is dead now. Great. What an unworthy ending. And no, a next season will not make sense. It will not make any sense sense at all. I like the 'other' characters. I like the 'other' storylines. But without Spacey its like ordering a T-Bone Steak with Potatoes and all you get are the Potatoes. Why not finish the "Underwood"-Storyline WITH him? This way is just pure b***sh*t. Don't let me start with the fact that there wasn't a trail yet. Just thinking about it makes me so angry. So thank you Netflix for ruining my favorite Netflix show. I guess i do not need your Service anymore.
I am Sophie and this is my website.
A little about me ๐ I am a marketing student in Paris. I love spending afternoons with friends in a cafe or a park.
But more than anything else, I love watching (.. bingingโฆ) series on my computer on rainy Sundays or any sunny day for that matter ๐
I must have watched hundreds of shows by now, from romance to science-fiction series. Often I like to go back to a show I enjoyed. But I donโt feel like watching it all over againโฆ
I created this website so myself and others could find the best episodes of our favourite shows. As of today, I have about 1,000 shows on the website with votes and rating coming from fans.
Hopefully, you can join me from your sofa and enjoy some nice TV!
