What a great surprise. The marketing fell WAY short of explaining the true brilliance of this show. The premise is an affair, yes, but the way they explore memories and how actions have consequences is the show's true intentions. p.s. I love how each of their stories start off fairly similar with small differences such as what each character is wearing. But near the end the differences in story become dramatically different.
**Am I missing something huge?** It feels like there should be a point or something, but all I see are plain stories with some poor attempt to make deep meanings. I'm on episode 7 of the first season, and if this is it, I'm done with this series. I do enjoy acting very much and the scoring is very unique and interesting. However, it's far from enough to get me through any more episodes. I think this is the most boring series I've ever watched. Due to it's popularity, I'm convinced I'm missing the point. It's progressing painfully slow, and barely anything happened the first three episodes. Will it get better? Am I missing the point? Anyone? __I didn't rate this because I only watched the first 7 episodes__ SO BORING Main storyline quality: 1/10 Originality: ?/10 Side storylines quality: 1/10 Progression of main story line: 1/10 Story development: 1/10 Characters: 1/10 Intensity (cliffhangers, edge of seat and the like): -9/10 (yes. negative 9) Acting and directing: 9/10
This show started off slow for me but quickly caught my attention. Besides all the sex and the main affair, there are seriously messed up story lines that want to make you cry at times. Pretty sad seeing this woman's life fall apart. Great show so far!! I'm really hoping they bring it back for a second season.
I have enjoyed very much the first season and I will wait impatiently the second season (and the third and final, because their creators want to make a trilogy). Thank to Showtime, Sarah Treem, Hagai Levi and the breathtaking crew, cast and writers who have made possible this great show, in particular to Ruth Wilson. She deserves the Emmy for Best Actress this year. Her performance is flawless, realistic and emotional. This series is not about an simple "affair", it is about how love can change everything and not always for the welfare of the characters.
The 1st season was great. The 2nd was good and 3rd was mediocre.
Great Story, perfect acting - loved watching it
This series gets a lot of attention, and I've stayed away from it based on it's title and because I find it hard to watch a show that has no redeemable characters, or even a compelling struggle of character. However, I like the work of both Dominic West and Ruth Wilson (who both had to shed their accents for these roles) and with Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson in supporting roles, I was convinced to take the plunge. My fears were realized. Although Wilson's character is complex, there was no moral centre to the inner personal conflict, so there was no real drama that interested me. After 3 episodes I've abandoned the series, giving it a 5 (meh) out of 10.
Season four and five ... painful to watch. RIP The Affair ...
For me only Cole is somewhat interesting. The others annoy me. Mostly Noah.
1st 2 seasons are some of the best television out there, show has tension and dialogue and relationships have depth. Penultimate season also excellent. Oher seasons okay to pretty good but not necessarily worth rewatching.

A little about me 👋 I am a marketing student in Paris. I love spending afternoons with friends in a cafe or a park.
But more than anything else, I love watching (.. binging…) series on my computer on rainy Sundays or any sunny day for that matter 🙈
I must have watched hundreds of shows by now, from romance to science-fiction series. Often I like to go back to a show I enjoyed. But I don’t feel like watching it all over again…
I created this website so myself and others could find the best episodes of our favourite shows. As of today, I have about 1,000 shows on the website with votes and rating coming from fans.
Hopefully, you can join me from your sofa and enjoy some nice TV!
