This show just chuckles me up. The cast is awesome ... they have bumbling down to an art. I hope this is a series that sticks around for a while
I've never seen the movie, but I have to now after watching this series. I'm finding it to be a funny parody mockumentary of these vampires. Overall, I'm just really enjoying the show.
got sooo excited when i heard this was coming. hope there are cameos! :smiling_imp:
I know that I'm certainly in the very small minority that doesn't understand all the hype and very extreme love of this show. I'm probably in a smaller minority that doesn't find it that funny, also. I truly don't understand what's so great about it. At its best, it's enjoyable, at least. At its worst, which is more frequent, it's mostly boring. And on a bigger scale, it is rarely funny. Maybe a lot of the jokes or humor fly over my head, or maybe I genuinely don't find it funny, most of the time. At best, the only saving grace of this show is that it mostly manages to entertain and never gets too boring. Other than that, it doesn't seem like the rare, phenomenal show that it has been treated as and came along that is loved by the masses and is deserving of that. It's just...a, a show, like any other. A hit or miss. And for some odd reason, this one hit the jackpot, maybe to a greater extent than what has ever been achieved before, for shows like this. And just for the sake of context, on top of my rating (7 out of 10) of the show, since this is the internet and people get offended for the heck of it, this is how I feel but I don't hate the show. I'm entertained by it, although there are boring/less entertaining bits throughout it. That has yet to change, and I don't think it will. But I do think this is the type of show to take a break from watching, for a little while, now and then, even when it is airing, to enjoy it to the fullest possible capacity.
This a case similar to reading and loving a book and then being overly critical of the movie adaption. The movie is so smart and effortlessly funny that it's still fresh 5+ watches in. However, I couldn't make it through the first episode without taking breaks. I definitely think my expectations were too high and if I gave it a chance by watching more episodes it might improve and I could eventually connect...but right now I need to take a break and come back when I'm feeling less biased :)
I think what this show does is pretty much unheard of? An adaptation of a film which takes place in the same universe with an entirely different cast of characters, made in another country, but by the same original creators. And it's not just good, it's not even just on par with the movie... I think, at points, it's probably better. The first season certainly borrowed a lot of beats from the film, and even Nandor felt a bit too familiar at times (he initially struck me as a combination of Taika and Jermaine's original characters), but it still retained its own identity. By the time the second season rolls around, though, the Shadows series has really stretched its legs and transformed into its own manic beast. The plots are much more original and fun, and I can't stress how perfect the casting and writing is for the characters (especially Nadja and Lazlo. Every time they open their mouths, it's inspired). Unfortunately the latter half of the second season starts to shift in a different direction, which I can only describe as less funny. That's a very subjective criticism but something in the writing definitely changes (as things do when a comedy starts getting more wacky) and it just becomes a show I'm less amused by. Still, for the most part at least I've been very happy and impressed by my time with this show. The only thing left I could ask from it is that the creators have the strength to end it once they feel the idea has run its course. Personally I probably won't check out season 3 because it already feels like they're kinda running out of ideas, and it would be a shame to see this one peter out into mediocrity.
I'm usually not big on comedy but this show is brilliant. Highly recommended.
Bat! I love Matt Berry.
What We Do In the Shadows has been one of my favorite movies for a long time, so when I saw there was a series made I was a little nervous since TV series made from shows are usually very pale imitations. This incarnation however, is a perfect extension! Produced by the same people and in the same style, it's great fun. Each character has a different personality and brings their own fun to each episode.
I wasn't convinced the show would be good from some clips I saw on YouTube but gave it a shot anyway. It has ended up being one of my favourite comedies so far, but it's hard to explain why. It's kind of like _The Office_, but with more creative freedom to play with the supernatural. The characters are all hilarious in their own ways, but my favourite has to be the energy vampire Colin Robinson portrayed by Mark Proksch, basically playing as himself. Watching the others doing Q&A panels can be kind of awkward and painful, but it's evident that Mark is a comedic genius. Season 2 of the show also has a crazy amount of surprising cameos as well. I gave the movie a watch as well since its popularity is what led to the existence of this show, and I'm probably in the minority when I say that I think the show is much better. The movie was alright, but it just doesn't seem like my style of humour, maybe it's just too smart for me.
While we celebrated the Pride month just now, why not talk about some awesome TV shows focused on LGBT characters. What if you want to learn about the people at large but you realize that there is no diversity in your close social circles. That’s when a good TV series can enlighten you with the ideas and realities. It can also save you from awkward moments in the real life by providing the right insights.
After a hot day outside, there’s nothing better than getting inside and cooling down, all while watching something on the tv. Luckily for all of us, there is plenty to chose from and more and more series are coming our way. So turn on your AC, get yourself a cold glass of your favorite drink, sit back and enjoy.
I remember watching a lot of “Pokémon”, “Digimon”, “Dragon Ball Z” etc. when I was growing up. Little did I know back then, I wasn’t watching cartoons but animes. Even now that I’m all grown up, I still enjoy watching them. There are many more genres to choose from and it’s always so full of action. The music in it is so great, you’ll definitely find yourself listening to songs long after you’ve finished watching.

A little about me 👋 I am a marketing student in Paris. I love spending afternoons with friends in a cafe or a park.
But more than anything else, I love watching (.. binging…) series on my computer on rainy Sundays or any sunny day for that matter 🙈
I must have watched hundreds of shows by now, from romance to science-fiction series. Often I like to go back to a show I enjoyed. But I don’t feel like watching it all over again…
I created this website so myself and others could find the best episodes of our favourite shows. As of today, I have about 1,000 shows on the website with votes and rating coming from fans.
Hopefully, you can join me from your sofa and enjoy some nice TV!
