[Netflix] A foray into the Nordic tradition of the "doppelgänger" that manages to be forceful by creating an eerie atmosphere. At times it reminds of "The revenants" (Canal+, 2012-2015) in the way the "returnees" interact in real life, and the complex decisions they cause in real people. Somehow the imperfect world is threatened by an idealized life, "doppelgänger" are dangerous to the extent that society is flawed.

I could never fully get into this. As interesting as the mystery was, things were way too slow, and the way most of the characters reacted kept pulling me out of the show - it felt to me like they were too nonchalant about what was going on, and nobody was communicative. It was abundantly clear that the two Gunhilds were the same (if not by appearance alone, by their memories I guess), and also that Ása was the same as the body that was found, yet everyone saying "they are very similar" became infuriating after a few episodes. Characters kept walking off the scene before saying things of more relevance (such as Gríma not even trying to show Kjartan herself and her copy in the same place - though I did like how he interacted with both in the final episode without realising). To me, there should have been more of an investigation, and a concern, rather than just people going through the motions. The scenery and overall idea was definitely interesting though - I think what I enjoyed the most was coming up with theories about the copies, and having them disproven with each new doppelgänger (I was convinced it was a "copy of dead body" situation, but the kid not being in the island at the time of his death left me stumped.)

About Me

I am Sophie and this is my website.

A little about me 👋 I am a marketing student in Paris. I love spending afternoons with friends in a cafe or a park.

But more than anything else, I love watching (.. binging…) series on my computer on rainy Sundays or any sunny day for that matter 🙈

I must have watched hundreds of shows by now, from romance to science-fiction series. Often I like to go back to a show I enjoyed. But I don’t feel like watching it all over again…

I created this website so myself and others could find the best episodes of our favourite shows. As of today, I have about 1,000 shows on the website with votes and rating coming from fans.

Hopefully, you can join me from your sofa and enjoy some nice TV!
