Mrs. Brown's Boys is a British-Irish award winning sitcom created by and starring writer and performer Brendan O'Carroll. The show is based on O'Carroll's stage plays about the character Agnes Browne, which were developed from books and straight-to-DVD films. The sitcom continues the stories of Agnes, now with the shortened surname "Brown", and her family who are played by real life close friends and family of O'Carroll's. After being slated by critics, the show has become a ratings success in both Ireland, where it is set, and the United Kingdom, where it is recorded. On 29 December 2012 the show began its third series. Mrs Brown's Boys is a co-production among BBC Scotland, BocPix and RTÉ.

But when the Brown children decide how to break the sad news to their mother, Agnes gets the wrong end of the stick. Under the impression that her children are planning on putting her in a nursing home, a furious Agnes sets out to persuade her children she's not going senile. Meanwhile, Cathy's new boyfriend Professor Clowne is determined to interview Agnes for his new book about motherhood and won't take no for an answer. Agnes reluctantly agrees to the interview but then becomes convinced that Clowne actually wants to study her to prove that she's going senile. Moreover, with Agnes's birthday fast-approaching, the Brown family have decided to throw their mother a surprise party. But poor Agnes is expecting a completely different surprise...

Father Quinn is bemused to have to give Maria and Dermot their pre-marriage talk in slightly unusual circumstances - with the mother of the groom in attendance and the groom in the cupboard. If Dermot won't reappear for the priest, how on earth is Agnes going to persuade him to come out in time for his wedding? Meanwhile, Agnes Brown goes on a hunt for the homosexual in the family. Eventually she realises who it is.

Meanwhile, Grandad ends up in hospital when Dr Flynn's attempt to read his temperature goes dramatically wrong. And Cathy reveals the electrifying secret of how she keeps dodgy men at bay.
